Completion Date: 2008 - project completed
Objective:
This project will compile and evaluate all available solubility
data for ethers and ketones with water. The results of this work will
be prepared in the standard format of the IUPAC-NIST Solubility Data
Series for publication in the Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference
Data and for inclusion in a web-accessible database being prepared
by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Description:
Under the direction of the Subcommittee
on Solubility and Equilibrium Data (SSED) of the Analytical Chemistry
Division, the IUPAC Solubility Data Project (SDP) compiles and critically
evaluates data on chemical solubility and disseminates the resulting
information to the widest possible range of users by traditional (printed
on paper) and electronic (web-accessible database) means.
The systems to be covered by this project fit within the priority focus
area identified in the phantom proposal, Solubility Related to Industrial
Processes. Ether-water and ketone-water solubilities are important to
many industrial processes, primarily as solvents and intermediates.
These systems were not covered yet in Solubility Data Series.
