WORKING PARTY ON MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF COMMERCIAL POLYMERS

Number: 422/2/98

Title: Characterization of polyelectrolytes in aqueous solution by GPC, light scattering, viscometry, ultracentrifuge or similar methods

Coordinator(s): R. Bruessau

Remarks: Interactions with other bodies will be developed according to needs as they arise.

Completion Date: 2001

Objective:
This is a round robin test (RRT) on polyacrylic acid. The first round has been finished; measurements were by SEC/GPC, light scattering, ultracentrifuge and viscometry. Two samples were characterized in 13 labs. The data scatter is enormous and standardization is necessary in the second stage of the RRT.

This project was presented at a poster session at the IUPAC Congress/GA July 2001
