Project

Analytical Chemistry Division (V)

COMMISSION ON SPECTROCHEMICAL AND OTHER OPTICAL PROCEDURES FOR ANALYSIS (V.4)

Number: 540/18/95

Title: Critical Assessment of Spectrochemical Procedures in Hyphenated Techniques for Chemical Analysis

Coordinator(s): N.H. Velthorst, T. Vo-Dinh, D. Moore, and T. Imasaka

Remarks: Coord. with V.2 (R. Lobinski) and V.3 (R.M. Smith)

Completion Date: 1999

Objective:
The number of developed hyphenated techniques combining sample treatment procedures, chromatographic or other separation systems, and spectrochemical and mass spectrometric analysis methods has generated a bewildering proliferation of acronyms and competing claims of technological superiority. This project seeks to clarify the definitions of terms used and to critically assess these hyphenated technologies according to specific applications.

Progress:
Partial draft revised at Geneva. Completed draft to be circulated by Velthorst to V.4 members by e-mail by end of 1997.
