Number: 220/24/89
Title: Nomenclature of Inorganic Chemistry - Revised (Red
Book) - Part II
Coordinator(s): J.A.
McCleverty
Remarks: IUBMB, JCBN and Commission III.1
Completion Date: 2001 - project completed
Objective:
To complement the current Red Book (RBI
- recommendations 1990 and revised
version in preparation), providing definitive rules for various
nomenclature areas. This book will include the following chapters:
II-1: Polyanions
II-2: Isotopically Modified Inorganic Compounds
II-3: Metal Complexes of Tetrapyrroles
II-4: Hydrides of Nitrogen and Derived Cations, Anions
and Ligands
II-5: Inorganic Chain and Ring Compounds
II-6: Graphite Intercalation Compounds

Inorganic and Coordination Polymers
Progress:
The book is edited by J.A.McCleverty and N.G.Connelly and includes
the usual collection of frontispiece pages and an 18-column Periodic
Table. The CNIC eventually decided to exclude the Chapters on Abbreviations
and on Radicals at this stage, pending extensive reviews of these
contributions and the emergence of a revised version of RBI.
