Young Observer Program

-Open Call for Torino, August 2007-

The Young Observer program provides an excellent opportunity for young scientists to participate in sessions of the IUPAC General Assembly and establish international collaborations, gain knowledge of global research activities, and participate in IUPAC activities. Some Young Observers from previous congresses have remained actively involved in IUPAC by joining or chairing committees or task groups.

Awards are offered by IUPAC to candidates from all National Adhering Organizations (NAOs) and Associate NAOs. All successful candidates are expected to also submit an abstract for a poster or paper to be presented at the Congress held concurrently.

Both the U.S. and U.K. NAOs have independently selected and supported the participation of young scientists from their countries. For details about these programs, including applications procedures, age limits, criteria for selection, and timelines/deadlines, please inquire to one of the following:

  • In the US, contact Katherine Bowman at the National Research Council <iupac-us@nas.edu>
