Preface
Polymer-Promoting Life Quality

The 41st International Symposium on Macromolecules (Macro 2006), sponsored by IUPAC and the Brazilian Polymer Association, was held in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from the 16th to 21st of July, 2006. This Congress was organized by the Brazilian Polymer Association, and sponsored by the Polymer Division of the International Union for Pure and Applied Chemistry, and Brazilian Research Agencies, CAPES and CNPq. With 1120 participants from 50 countries, the MACRO2006 attracted 467 participants from Brazil and 653 from other countries.

Twelve plenary lectures were delivered by distinguished scientists, including one Nobel Laureate. A total of 1311 papers,138 invited lectures, 222 oral contributed talks and 667 posters were presented in 13 sessions of the Congress. The program of the meeting included the following topics:
