COMMISSION ON EQUILIBRIUM DATA (V.6)
Number: 560/38/95
Title: A Review and Critical Analysis of Equilibrium and Redox
Data for Porphyrins and Metalloporphyrins
Coordinator(s): M.
Tabata and J. Nishimoto
Completion Date: 1999 - abandoned
Objective:
The aim of the work is to review and interpret the equilibrium solution
chemistry of porphyrins and metalloporphyrins. Porphyrin chemistry is
a very active, emerging area of solution chemistry. It is relevant to
bioinorganic and bioorganic processes. An understanding of the principles
and energetics of such processes may give useful information for organic
synthesis and bio- and biological chemistry. Thermodynamic and equilibrium
data published in this highly active field needs compilation and, where
the number of published data allows, also a critical evaluation.
Progress:
Data compiled, critical assessment completed.
At its 2000 meeting Commission V.6. decided to terminate this project.
