Fil. Kand. (B.Sc.) 1970 (Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics),
Lund University.
Ph.D. 1978, Lund University.
Thesis: Retention volume in gas chromatography - measurement and interpretation.
Senior Lecturer from 1986, Professor from 2000.
Research
Main research area at present is sample preparation in environmental
and biomedical analysis, especially using membrane extraction techniques
and chromatography, mass spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis.
Earlier research areas include: Field flow fractionation, basic chromatographic
principles, especially peak shapes, absorption in gas chromatography,
physicochemical measurements by chromatography.
Totally about 130 publications in international journals since 1975.
Also various reports, one edited book (Chromatographic Theory and Basic
Principles, Marcel Dekker, 1987), book chapters, encyclopedia texts,
etc.
Editor for a special issue of membrane extraction, Journal of Sep.
Sci. 2001.
Supervisor or assistant supervisor for totally 28 graduate students,
of which 21 have finished their PhD, 1982-2001.
Undergraduate teaching
Teaching on all courses given in Analytical Chemistry since 1978, Development
of new courses and course parts (Analytical Chemistry with Environmental
Applications, Industrial Analytical Chemistry) 1993, (Bioanalytical
Chemistry) 2001, part-time lecturing at the University of Botswana (1992-1997),
at Vilnius University in Environmental Analytical Chemistry (1995, 1997),
at IIIEE, Lund (1996-). Head of teaching in Analytical Chemistry (1998-),
Chairman for the board of chemical teaching at Lund University.
IUPAC activities
Commission on Chromatography and other analytical separations (LLTC)
(AM 1991-1993).
Commission V.3 "Analytical separation techniques" (AM 1994-1995, TM
1996-2001, secretary 2000-2001).
General secretary for the 35th General Assembly, Lund, 1989.
Other administrative tasks
Treasurer and member of the board of the Swedish Chemical Society (1990-1994).
General secretary for the Swedish Chemical Society's, Analysdagar in
Lund (1982, 1985, 1987, 1990).
Chairman for 7th symposium on handling of environmental and biological
samples in chromatography, Lund 1995 and for High performance liquid
phase separations, Lund 1998.
