Title: IUPAC Guidelines for Terms Related to Chemical Speciation and Fractionation of Trace Elements: Definitions, Structural Aspects, and Methodological Approaches

Remarks: Interdivisional project with the Commission on Microchemical Techniques and Trace Analysis (V.2) and the Commission on Fundamental Environmental Chemistry (VI.1)

Completion Date: 2000 - Project Completed

Objective:
Definitions of terms related to speciation of trace elements, more particularly speciation analysis and species in chemistry. Publication in the Analyst and in PAC is anticipated to ensure adequate dissemination.

Progress:
Since the project has been initiated, 8 drafts have been already issued. A provisional document has been prepared and distributed for review. The public comment period ended 29 Feb. 2000.

A final meeting was planned in March 2000 in Brussels, Belgium.

Project completed - IUPAC Recommendations 2000 published in Pure Appl. Chem., 72(8), pp. 1453-1470, 2000.
