Project

Division of Chemistry and the Environment (VI)

COMMISSION ON ATMOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY (VI.2)

Number: 620/27/96

Title: Deposition on Different Scales of Space and Time of Inorganic and Organic Compounds

Coordinator(s): J. Slanina

Remarks: Interaction with Commission VI.3

Completion Date: 2000 - project terminated

Objective:
The assessment of loads of pollutants and of import and export of pollutants requires generalization of deposition over very different scales of time and space. The extension of results, e.g. measured in The Netherlands to e.g. China is absolutely wrong, but assessments are made in this fashion continuously. The errors induced by these extensions will be documented in first order assessment. The present expertise should also be applied to loads of pesticides and other compounds relevant of water quality.

Progress:
Decision taken jointly with Commission VI-3, was to carry on this project as a workshop, attached to the Division Meeting, in June 2000 in Israel.
In the mean time a first version of a document will be produced (first draft is ready) as a basis for this scientific discussion.

Last Update: 1 November 1999

Project terminated 31 dec 2001
