Project

Physical Chemistry Division (I)

COMMISSION ON THERMODYNAMICS (I.2)

Number: 120/12/89

Title: Electrolyte Solution Data
Volume XII, Part 1d Conductivity of Carbonates, Part 4 Vapour Pressure, Osmotic coefficients, Part 5 Heats of Dilution

Coordinator(s): J.M.G. Barthel

Remarks: Of interest to Commission I.3, Fach-Informationszentrum (FIZ), Berlin; Dechema, Frankfurt

Completion Date: 2001 - project terminated

Objective:
A critical evaluation of the available information on the properties of electrolyte solution data including properties such as Conductivities, Transference Numbers and Limiting Ionic Conductivities of Solutions. The conduct of such critical evaluation, the assembly of the large database and the verification of the data and activity requires international involvement and the association with IUPAC endows the project with an international credibility and validity.

Progress:
This project, which is essentially on-going, is moving ahead steadily. Recent publications include Viscosities of aqueous solutions Part 3c, AgClO4-Cl4O16Th and Part 3d, CoO4S-O6SU, J. Barthel, R. Neueder and R. Meier in the series Electrolyte Solution Data published by the Dechema Chemistry Series.

Conductivities, Transference Numbers and Limiting Conductivities of Solutions of Aprotic, Protophobic Solvents, III, Ketones, Esters and Nitrohydrocarbons (C1-C4), and 1f. IV. Ketones, Esters and Nitrohydrocarbons (C5-C8), by J. Barthel and R. Neueder (2000, ISBN 3897460130), and part 1g Conductivities, Transference Numbers and Limiting Conductivities of Solutions of Protophilic H-bond Donor and Aprotic Solvents I. Amides (2001, ISBN 3897460270).
