that I always like. This year, at work, I made such a promise so I can
now share with you the redesign of the IUPAC homepage. I enjoyed working
on that project. I hope that it will serve you well while starting your
visit of the site. The extended navigation offers direct access to about
50 pages. Light graphics should make the site more inviting to casual

Dr. A. Fajgelj reports on the progress made during the SOILSAMP meeting

Following the earlier initiative of Profs. M. El-Ssayed and J. Jorter,
WAM II will be organized in Bangalore at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for
Advanced Scientific Research on 13-16 February 2002. Convener: Dr. G.U.
The workshop aims to address recent developments in areas such as
quantum structures including nanocrystals of metals and semiconductors,
mesoscalar assemblies, nanotubes and nanowires, nanosensors,
nanodevices, theoretical and computational studies.
* Chemical Education
A satellite conference, jointly of IUPAC2001 and 9ACC, will be conducted
by the Committee on Teaching of Chemistry (CTC) of IUPAC on the morning
of Sunday 1st July at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane -
not far from the WCC conference venue.
